The End and the Begin

One more week, this semester will be finished. Friday is the last day of the three classes. We have a big party on that day. At the beginning of the class, the instructors divide us into groups. Every group have fifteen dollars, we have to use the 15 dollars to go to buy food for our party. However, each group have to buy different food. For example, my group members are Phil, Maggie and Katerina. We need to buy the European and Middle Eastern food. I’m no idea about these two types of food. We went to the Safeway and asked the staff of the Safeway. Finally, we got some European food. It’s a interesting activities. Then we had a party in EDB288. After the party, I received my mark of the theme three’s listening exam. It’s really bad. If I do not get a high mark in the final exam, I will fail this course. Therefore, I have to study hardly in this long weekend and spend more time on listening and portfolio. This is the end of this semester. Also, it’s the beginning of my university life. (If I pass the LEAP this time.) I will face the new instructors, new classmates, new classrooms and the new difficulties. In the LEAP program, not only I learned the language, but also I got the important experience such as making friends, learning culture and helping each other. All of the experiences will be used in the university. At last, I want to say Thank you to all the LEAP instructors and students.

News

Today is July 26, 2006. This semester will finish at August 11, 2006, so I have two weeks left. I felt so tired during these days. It’s so busy in this week. First of all, I am going to back to China on August 13, 2006. I have to find a place to live before I go, but it’s very difficult to find a rental house or apartment near the university. Secondly, there are a lot of tests and assignments during this week. We have a Oral presentation on Wednesday, a listening test on Thursday, a Writing test and Reading test on Friday. Also, the attending lecture and article report will due to next week. I did not go to bed before 12:00 from this Monday. However, I just heard news about the policy of Leap program. If I did not pass one course, I will fail all the Leap 4. Therefore, if I fail one course, I should repeat all the three courses on next semester. This news gives me a high pressure. From now, I cannot play any computer games in the next two week. Now, I have 2 wishes. One is I can pass all the tests and exams in the next 16 days. Another is I can find a good place to live with my friends near the university.

Calgary Stampede Park

Yesterday I went to Calgary Stampede Park with Harry, Jay, Jamie and Amy. We have a lot of fun in the stampede park. When we arrived there, we felt hungry. Then we start to search food store in the park. Beny told us there was a great BBQ chicken store in the park. We found out the store and ate the chicken. It’s very delicious. In the doorway, a woman, who may be a staff in the park, told us a great dog show will start one hour later. When we got enough food, we went to see the dog show. The show called Super Dogs. In the show, all of the dogs are so cute and smart. They followed the order and jumped the barrier. It’s a great show, and it also is a advertisement for dogs’ food. IAMS is a dogs’ food company. This company trained a lot of “Super Dogs” to show the benefits of the dogs’ food. After the “Super Dogs” show, we played some games in the park. Jamie and Amy won some toys. Then, Harry and Jay went to play exciting game. Jamie, Amy and I went to some stampede stores. There are many funny products in the stampede store, but it’s too expensive. Also, we went to the agricultural building. We saw many cute and small cows and horses. All the cows and house looked sleepy and tired because we went to the agricultural building at 10:00 p.m. While we went back the C-train station, there was a band show beside the entry. Jay said, “Wow, people mountain people sea.” It’s a Chinese idiom. It means that there are so many people on there. Although we were so tired on that day, we had a happy time in the stampede park.

Stampede

Stampede is the most famous day in Calgary. I saw a video on Thursday afternoon. The video show what Canadian do in the Stampede. On that day, cow boys are the main characters. There are many events on that day, such as competitions, shows and so on. For example, there are stage shows, concerts, agricultural competitions, chuckwagon races, First Nations exhibitions, and pancake breakfasts around the city. It sounds interesting. However, I did not go to the Stampede on Friday, because I woke up too late on Friday. I woke up at 12:00 p.m. Most of my friends also did not go to the Stampede. They thought stampede is so boring. Therefore, I just played computer games and basketball on Friday. Today, I just hear news. Stampede will open until next week. Therefore, Harry and I may go to stampede on Sunday. Whatever, Stampede is the most important day in Calgary. If someone wants to go with us, just tell me before Sunday. Hopefully, we will have a good time on that day.

Disappointment

On the Saturday morning, I woke up so early for watching the world cup Quarter-Finals.


The first match is England V.S. Portugal. In that match, England’s status was very bad. First, Owen’s lag was hurt on the round of 32. That match was England V.S. Sweden. The score of that game was 2-2, and both England and Sweden came into the round of 16. However, Michael Owen was injured on the match. The injury put him out of the 2006 FIFA world cup. Therefore, England would lose a strongest striker, when England played with Portugal. The second bad situation was that Wayne Rooney got a red card and was sent off in the 62nd minutes. The third bad situation was that Beckham was hurt at the beginning of the second half. The most famous player of England cannot play on that match. At last, England was lost in the Penalties. I felt disappointed about the penalties especially Lampard and Gerrard. These two men also were famous in the England team, but they did not get score in the penalties. I felt so bad.

The second match was Brazil and France. I never image that Brazil can lost except the Final Match. In fact, Brazil was beaten by France. One man I do not like him very much. He is Ronaldo. He is so fat. When he was running in the field, he looked like walking on the field. Although he has high experiences and skills, he did not have any enthusiasm. There were many chances to get scores, but he didn’t. I think the Robinhol is much better than Ronaldo. He is a new star, but he also has good skills and high speed. Therefore, I think the coach should not change Kaka, the coach should change Ronaldo to Robinhol on the 71st.

Consequently, I felt so disappointed about these two matches. I may not watch the semi-final and final match because my favourite team Brazil had gone back home.

My Weekend

On the Friday afternoon, I went to find apartment for rent with Harry and Roy. There were many apartments near our school, but all of the apartments were full. Then, we went to find house near our school, but there was not house for rent. Most of the houses were for sale. When we wanted to go back, we found a terrible problem: we lose ourselves. We saw the Kananaskis Hall and we thought we can cross a residential area to get there. However, when we got into the residential area, we cannot see the Kananaskis Hall. At last, we went back to the dormitory by our memory, though we did not know how to walk out the residential area.

On the Saturday afternoon, Lesley asked me to her home for dinner because she moved to her new apartment. (This is a Chinese traditional custom. In China, when someone moved into his or her new house, he or she would ask friends to his new house for dinner.) I went to there with Jay, Harry, Roy, Sophia, Susan and Cecilia. After dinner, we played game which call “Rich Man” in her room. It’s a kind of dicing game and it’s very interesting. Also, she has a Game-Cube, though there is only one game, which is “Super Mario”, in her Game-Cube. We had a really happy time in her home. Then, we went back to dormitory at 11:00. When I arrived to the dormitory, most of the people who lived in the dormitory were playing games near the hall. All the games were childhood’s games. Whatever, I have a good Saturday.

The jolly time is always short. On the Sunday, I have to do my homework......

Father's Day

Today is Father’s Day. First of all, I would say “Happy Father’s Day” to my father. In my eyes, my father is a strict person. When I was sitting at the frond of my computer and playing computer games. He always took my computer away and forced me to study. When I was sit at the frond of television and watching TV. He always said, “Did you finish your homework?” or “What have you learned from the TV? Do not just watch cartoon? Are you a kid?” Therefore, I usually watch TV and play computer game when my father is not at home. Also, he always forces me to learn other knowledge which I did not learn in school. However, I feel thankful to my father. All the knowledge is useful. For example, he sent me to his company and work on there. I learned how to identify each electronical element, how to solder circuit board, how to make friends with other workers and so on. He also sent me to a lot of adult lectures, which was about business, to learn how to become a good leader, how to manage a company, and how to become a successful man. All of the knowledge is useful. I know why he force me do these things. All of these things are good for my future. Now I just want to say, “Thanks a lot, my dear father.”

(PS: Yesterday I went to the Edmonton Mall with Jamie, Amy, Cody, Harry and Jay. Also, I met my friend who studied in University of Alberta. We went to the Edmonton Mall by school bus. We have a happy time on there.)

Writing-Storm

Today is the third day of the 2006 FIFA World Cup. There are thirty-two teams in the World Cup. They are Angola, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Tunisia, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Paraguay, Australia, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Serbia & Montenegro, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Ukraine, Costa Rica, Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago and United States. Yesterday I got up at 6:30 a.m. for watching the game which was England VS Paraguay. England won this game by 1:0. Then, I went to bed at 9:00 a.m. and got up again at 12:00 for the soccer game which was Argentina VS Côte d'Ivoire.

When the soccer game finished at 2:00 P.M., I was worried about my homework. I spent so much time on the World Cup. There are so many tests next week. I have not opened my book yet. Next few days, I cannot spend too much time on soccer, because my goal is pass the effective writing in this semester. After these thinking, I start to do COP questions.

On Friday afternoon, I went to Canada Olympic Park with Jamie, Beny, Jay and Susan. When we were been the COP, we bought the ticket which spent 16 dollars. At first, we went to a hill by a funicular railway. The landscape on the hill was very beautiful. Although, we went to COP for homework, the scenery attracted our eyes. We took so many pictures on the hill. Whatever, COP is a beautiful and interesting place.

Childhood

Look at the photograph on the left side. This is my photograph when I was 8 years old. Most of my friends don’t think that’s my picture, because the child on the picture looks very thin. Now I’m a little bit over weight. (hehe) I have a colourful childhood. When I was 8 years old, my father went to work in the south China. My mother is a gynaecologic doctor in a hospital. She worked five days per week. Therefore, I have so much free time. I told my mother, I want to learn Chinese Kong-Fu. My Mum also thought it’s good for my health. Then, she sent me to a class of Kong-Fu during holiday. I made a lot of friends in that class and we usually go out to play in the weekend. We often went swimming, skating and playing soccer after class.


Look at the photograph on the right side. This is my picture when I was 6 years old. It is in the Spring Festival. My father took me and my mother to tour in Beijing. This is my first time to go to Beijing. My teacher told me a Chinese idiom in class. It’s “If you have not been Great-Wall, you are not a good man.” Therefore, I went to the Great Wall, the Imperial Palace and Yuanmingyuan in that tour.

These are just a few things about my childhood. Also, there are a lot of funny things in my childhood. Whatever, I have a wonderful childhood.

My Favourite Soccer Player: Ronaldinho

Today is May 27, 2006. The world cup will start at June 8th, 2006. My expectation is the show of Ronaldinho, because he is my favourite soccer player. I learned the “Elite child athletes” during this week. Ronaldinho also was an elite athlete when he was a child. Ronaldinho was born March 21, 1980 in Porto Alegra. Joao is his father. He played soccer in an amateur club. Roberto is his older brother. When Ronaldinho was child, his brother became a rising star in the Germio club. However, Joao thought Ronaldinho was the real star. Therefore, Ronaldinho started to play soccor when he was a child. Sadly, Joao drown in a swimming pool when Ronaldinho was 8-year-old. After a few years, Roberto was injured in his knee. Then he quit his club and became the personal coach of Ronaldinho. When Ronaldinho was 19 years old he entered a Paraguay team called Wanderly Luxembumbergo. In 2004 Ronaldinho won the world player of the year.

I don’t think the success of Ronaldinho is cause by his father’s expectation and his brother’s coach. I think the real reason is the enthusiasm for soccer. I saw one his match a few days ago. It’s the UEFA Champions League final. Barcelona defeated Arsenal 2-1. At he 37th minute, Arsenal score the first goal. On that time, I saw Ronaldinho’s face and he was smiling. I don’t think he was worried about the champion. He was enjoying this game. At last, he led the Barcelona to win the champion. In a press conference, one person asked him: “Do you have girlfriend?” Ronaldinho took out a soccer ball said: “It’s her”.

As the same reason, enthusiasm is important for everything. If I want to pass Leap 4, I should devote more enthusiasm in study. Just like Ronaldinho.

Lonely

Today is Saturday. I woke up at 4:00a.m. There was only me in this room. I felt a little bit lonely. I missed my parents at that time. I got up and wrote an email to my parents. Suddenly, this feeling make me remember a past event three years ago.
Three years ago, it was the first time to leave my hometown. I went to a new city and studied in a college. I didn’t have any friend, because most of them spoke Cantonese and I didn’t understand Cantonese. I felt very lonely on that time. I told my Mum I want go back, I felt lonely in here. My mother told me: “one people can break ‘lonely’. That’s your friend. Try to help other people and make friends in there. Don’t worry about Mandarin or Cantonese. After ten years, friendship will be one of the most important things in your life.” After that, I tried to help people in this school and I made lots of friends on there. Also, I felt very happy during 3 years in that college.
Some of my friends came to U of C too. Some of them broke up. I want to tell them, don’t felt lonely and I’m your friends. When they went to a new class, I also try to help them to make friends, because I’m their friend. I never made my friends feel lonely, because I have known lonely is not a good feeling.

First Day In Leap4

This is the first entry in this blog. Like the title, I am going to write about my emotion and my life in Leap4. Last day is the first day to study in leap 4. Our intensive instructor is Scott. I heard many things about him. All my calgary friends said, he is very humor and good teacher. I think so, too. Most of classmates were known before. I feel very happy and lucky in this class. Also, I have my goals in Leap4. I hope i can pass the effective writting in this semestor. That's mean my intensive mark should get B+. Though it's very hard, i think i can do it.
